First Sebenza!

And almost $100 cheaper that what I've seen dealers price them at !

Excellent snag !

It came this afternoon. I absolutely LOVE it. The fit and finish is flawless - I could not find a single thing wrong the knife at all. The action is very smooth, and the lockup is very tight. It came very sharp. I love the look of the micarta, and it makes the knife very grippy. The knife is VERY comfortable in every grip I can possibly thing of. It is everything I expected it to be and more. The epitome of perfect.

It is in my waistband as I type this. Now I have to update the "Favorite Knife" question in my profile :D

I have a few questions though. I already disassembled and reassembled the knife. I noticed on the blade there is an "S" mark, underneath where one of the washers goes. Also, the inside of both handle slabs is marked with "B 05." The birth date of the knife is July 27, 2005, so I'm wondering if the 05 has to do with the year.

Congrats.

I 'm looking forward to my small micarta.

But I am looking at an African Blackwood handle and thinking of changing mid-stream. What do you think : micarta or african blackwood for my first small sebenza.

I know i am wishy-washy [sigh]

The "S" is the symbol indicating that it was built for Superman. The "B 05" is the krypton level that the knife can be exposed to. . . .before meltdown.

Actually, the "B 05" is a manufacturing/production batch #.

I have no idea with the "S" represents, but like the Superman idea. :D

I love the micarta, it looks very nice, matches the bead-blasted scales well, and provides extra grip. It depends on what you're looking for I guess.

So does B 05 mean anything? Or is it just numbers to help CRK sort things or something? Can anyone decipher this :p I like the Superman idea as well, but I'd like to know what it really means :D

Congratulations. Am waiting for my Mnandi. Hopefully it gets here tomorrow. Then ill be ready to shop for my first Sebbie :D

The "S" stands for S30V blade steel.

"B" indicates what lot the slabs are from and the "05" indicates the year that the handle was manufactured.

* A is first lot, B is second lot, etc. *

Man good snag!

Did the seller even make money on that deal?

My large Micarta has been great so far. One can never have too many Sebenzas. I'm already contemplating my next.

Thanks. No, I don't think the seller made any profit :p The cheapest I've seen them is for $364 at a store that sells them below MSRP (illegal? ) and they have been known not to ship out orders and not to answer phone calls/emails. I would say this is probably the best deal I would be able to find on this knife :D

Is your Lg. Micarta your only Sebenza? How long have you had it? Been EDCing it every day?

The large Micarta one of 4 Sebenzas that I have. I've only had it about 3 months. Currently it is not an EDC. I'm still trying to wear out the large classic!
