Yay,
Bought myself a late birthday present.
A set of water stones in 240-800 and 2000-5000 grid on 2 rubber stands.
The set came with a ceramic rod that I'll probably keep in the kitchen
I used to sharpen on waterproof sandpaper and a homebrew strop.
Got some decent sharpness but nowhere near what I see some people here achieve.
Now it's time to start practicing, see if I can maintain a more constant angle.
Was tempted to buy a Sharpmaker which costs me about the same, but mastering the skill of freehand sharpening appeals to me more.
Hope I don't give up and buy a sharpmaker after all in a few weeks
The orange Military is there for size reference, it was already in my posession.
Now wish me luck
