Here is my first bolstered and fileworked knife. To be continued...

First I forged the blade then Aus-forged on the edge. Full convex grind, will be semi mirror finished ( to 2000 grit). The slabs will be sculptured. Front bolsters will have 2 pins (not hidden), the rear bolster has 3 hidden pins.

May be I will remove the relatively large hole on the back.

In progress. Rest tomorrow...

Best wishes,

Wow, that looks great! It looks super thin, but that may just be that the corian scales are really thick. Is it damasucs or just forged plain steel? Can't wait to see it finished!

It is not damascus, and the scales is getting thinner. The edge turned out to be razor sharp. I keep the thickness of the blade as thin as it gets. It makes the edge a little fragile but the cutting ability rises significantly.

Note that it is a prototype; that means made for my use. There is a saw mark on the spine but who cares, it is going to be beautiful, ergonomic and cuts everything like butter. What more can I want.

ps. I make no more D2 for my customers as I am not sure enough I HT it appropriately. This particular blade has been Ok but I had too much failures previously with D2. (Oh sweet 5160 :p )
