Here is my first leather sheath for a pocket carry fixed blade of my design. Here are the mistakes I know I made: should have dyed the clip square and that area before gluing and sewing, needed more room for the pocket clip square so it doesn’t hang over the fold (ordered narrower clips to help with that), the sloppy groove on the pocket clip square was a mistake highlighted in another thread about groovers, a couple thread loops twisted while pulling tight so the thread looks off on those loops, lastly I need to shim up the edge when making holes with a thick needle in the drill press so they go straight through and the back stitch looks neater. I welcome any other constructive criticism so I can improve my next sheaths.

Leave your bottom edge oversized and trim after stitching. That helps with the rolling and keeping your stitch holes square:

Also move your stitch line in some.

Thank you Horsewright Horsewright ! I’ll try that on the next one. Yes it was close on the top and then once the holes went through not square it was too close for sure. I’ll move it in further to start from now on. Appreciate the tips.
