I first would like to thank everyone on this forum that posts tutorials, and advice to new sheath makers. I read many posts here and they were vary helpful. This is actually my third sheath but the first two were experiments so I can learn the basics. This third sheath still has mistakes but I'm learning. A couple that stand out to me are the stitching went to far on the bottom, so I just continued it all the way to the back. Another would be the edges to the belt loop were not cut smoothly enough. I think I can straighten out the wet forming a little. A couple of questions I have are, do my stitches look to tight? Is my belt loop to wide?, it seems like it hangs on my belt ok. Feel free to critique, this would only help me to become better. I hope these pictures come out.
Thanks, John Smith

Here is one more photo, I don't think the picture of the edge came out clear enough. What would be a good Finish to put on the sheath?
Thanks again, John Smith

That's only your third? Well done! Your well on the way. Just keep getting your technique more polished and learn more! Never stop learning.

Leather finishes have a lot of personal opinion attached to them. I like wax, I prefer Fiebings "Leather Balm With Atom Wax" and if I want a warmer finish I go with Aussie Leather Conditioner, its beeswax and oils in a nice thick stuff. Some prefer an acrylic based finish, be sure your leather is well conditioned before applying the acrylic. Others like Laquer, its the one I think is the best alternative to wax, "Neatlac" from tandy is good stuff.

I'm impressed by what you have produced .
I'm reasonably new at this game myself , and if I may offer some advice I'd say , find the two things that annoy you , or that your not quite satisfied with and work on correcting them on your next sheath .
You are always your harshest critic so listen to yourself and fix your previous mistakes one thing at a time .
Sometimes it takes multiple attempts to achieve satisfaction , then move onto the next item on the list .
I think you have a definite future bending leather .

Thanks for the advice, I'm having fun and will continue reading posts and learning. The reason my sheath work in coming out ok is a direct reflection of the members here that are helping us newcomers.
Thanks, John Smith

Beautiful! I could only dream of making a sheath that nice.. Although I've only tried once.
Anyway, good job!

I think you did a great job. My first pouch sheaths didn't even fit my knives...

But I agree with Ken, find what you don't like and work on that. It looks clean to me, I can't tell if you used a stitch groover or not...
