Ok folks, we had a Last sheath of 2013, here's one for the First of 2014, mine is one I actually made for myself, not a frequent thing, but in this Case (pun intended) I decided that I'd prefer to carry this on my belt than digging in my pockets, plus it will help keep it free of dust bunnies and since this Case Peanut is a CV bladed one, it will help keep it from getting moisture transferred from my sweaty pants pockets onto the knife and causing some unsightly rust.

on the leading edge, I embossed this, I call it The Northern Star, to lead the way, it's a nice classy embossing stamp and when the front of the sheath doesn't have room or doesn't need embossed I often put this on the leading edge of the sheaths I make.

So, lets see just THE FIRST one for 2014, not a whole bunch of sheaths but just photos of the first one of this new year.

Really nice sheath Gary, always liked your work, I'm about to attempt my second leather sheath ever, this one is for a Becker BK2, I have some old leather pto belts like the kind they used on the old tractors to run the farm equipment, it about a 1/4" thick by 8"wide and about 20 feet long :).

That would be some hefty leather right there!! and I'd be careful as it might have not been veggie tanned, so it might have detrimental effects on steel blades.

And yep, I like that little sheath, leather was a bit thick, I don't have a means to thin it down, so just tried to find some that wasn't too thick, I know some people will think it odd to even carry such a small blade on a belt, but, then again I'm a little odd ;) there is just enough of the handle to make it so you can pull it clear of the sheath and it really snaps into place with a nice THUNK as it seats back into the sheath. Not all sheaths/knives will do that, this and the Buck 110 really have a nice thunk, also my Chambriards thunk into place as well.

Too late for me Gary. I don't even remember the first for 2014, but I think it was a modified pouch set up for sash carry. I just finished up numbers 27 through 31 today and they will go out when PO opens Tuesday. With what I have been alerted is heading my way, I should finish out the month of January with about 45 or so finished and shipped.

I think the very first one was probably the only brown one in the photo below. It was part a a group of 10 for a Knight/Paranee special project fighter.

I thought I was the only one silly enough to carry a traditional pocket slip joint in a sheath :)
I really like the look of that , in a funny kind of way the thicker leather adds to the overall sheath , it certainly doesn't detract .
Also a very important thing to mention " nice knife "

not to take away from the thread, but you are most correct, she's a good little folder, fairly strong on the walk and talk too !

Gary, beautiful knife and sheath. I actually just finished a similar sheath based on one of your tutorials. It is for a Kershaw Corral Creek II and the color is similar to what you used. I used Fiebing's mahogany. This was my first attempt at a sheath like this. Thanks again for the great tutorial!

Very nice job, looks like a solid knife too, always liked those Kershaws! Glad to know the tutorials are being looked at, took a lot of time to make them up :)
And, welcome to the forums too!

If that is your first attempt then you should've very happy with that .
It looks excellent .

Ken, this is my first attempt at a sheath like this, but my second overall sheath. First one was for a BK-2 also using some lessons learned from this forum. Thanks for the nice comments.

Gary, thanks for the kind words. This Kershaw should actually just be a pocket knife, but I liked your tutorials and the single piece sheath, so I decided to attempt making one. It helps with the motor skills to make such a small sheath.

I agree, I have a friend at work, his dad gave him a nice stag Case Peanut that wants a sheath like what I made, will get my 'stuff' out this weekend and finish up one I've had about 75% done for a while and make his Peanut sheath as well as one for my new Compagnon, and an axe cover, right now we're trying to sell our home and move closer to our grand kids, the place we picked has a full basement, which I have plans to outfit as a work shop ;) THEN I can get setup I hope and get some things caught up!
