Hello,
My first big show will be this weekend down at the NCCA annual show in CT. I have a big 6 foot table and have been working my butt off to get knives ready. I would up with about 10 knives to sell and a few to bring for show, not bad for a part time maker! I think Im pretty prepared, ot some business cards, printed out a binder of pictures, printed info cards for each knife and made a table sign...
Anyways, my concerns are about the show itself. I'll be there 9-3 for two days. How do you get lunch? Do you just leave a couple grand in knives sitting on the table and hope for the best? Cover the table? Have someoen watch it? Same question goes for walking around. I may want to walk around for an hour...out of the question? What do you do with your table while you are gone?
Secondly, how do you watch over a table while a customer is talking to you or you are showing someone something? Doesnt everyone get paranoid that someone will just walk off with a knife from the opposite corner of the table while you arent looking? Perhaps I should have more faith in my fellow humans? I've had rusty grills stolen off my porch, so it tough to do that....
Lastly, what else am I missing? What items do you usually bring to a show that you wish a maker had told you?
