After working on knives for 5+ years now, I thought that it was about time to start putting my name on them. I hope that I haven't embarrassed myself...

As part of any commission, I like to make an additional (spare) blade just in case something unforseen happens during heattreating or finishing. If all works out well I send a photo of both blades to the client so that he/she can choose the one they prefer. I got lucky this time and the client asked me to finish both blades so that he could give one to his brother for his 60th birthday.

Blade: High Carbon Cable Full Tapered Tang
Blade Length: 4"
Overall Length: 8.5"
Bolsters and Pin: 303 Stainless
Spacers: Homemade Brown Paper Phenolic
Handle: Stabilized Box Elder Burl

Great knives, only embarrassment I see is "I" didn't think of the two knife thing. :D I might sell more that way!!!!!!!!!!

All it takes is one slip and my grinder will snatch the knife right out of your inattentive hand and cast it into the floor beside your feet. If you come away without losing toes, you'll be missing the tip of your knife.... don't ask me how I know.

Since I'm a bit obsessive/compulsive in the forge, most of my time is spent developing the initial pattern and trying to forge a shape that I've never made before; so the second blade is relatively quick, easy and often comes out better.

Plus I forge at my in-laws in College Station and finish at home in Houston (90 min away) so I can't run out to the forge a whip out a new blade every time I warp during heat treat, slip on the grinder, drop the complete piece while showing it to my wife...:o

yeah, my father-in-law is one wily Texan, he encourages my forging so that he can see his daughter more often...

Looks like you should have been putting your name on it a long time before this.

I would agree that you should have been putting your name on your knives for a while now. They are respectable and classic. Keep it up.
