A short hike today to just wander around, chill, and look for the first sines of spring.

The river, the mouth of a little stream that runs into it, and a castle in the mist.

A healthy muskrat population in this area, so lots of muscle shells

A healthy beaver population too from what I can tell.

Some small falls just up the stream a ways.

.

Thanks for the walk Mist - looks very peaceful.

I'm reminded somehow, of how cold TN can be. The moisture in the air just penetrates... Of course, this simply is an indicator of the need for a campfire!

Nice photos. Looks like my kind of place.

Here is the first sign of spring that I found in the Maryland woods:

Thanks for the pics. I love the rain drops and the moss on the rocks in the water fall pic's. That whole area is beautiful, reminds me of the Hiwassee River. Just needs a little fog on the water and a tent set up on the bank. :)

nice pics! i'm still not ready for spring though (daylight savings time starts this weekend by the way) since we haven't really had much snow.

Was quiet and peaceful, glad you liked it. In can be cold here and was today. Rained yesterday afternoon and then switched over to snow overnight. This morning the mountain was dusted with snow and covered with icicles.

Another great post my friend

Thanks bro

Thanks man. Yeah, I try to stay far enough off the road to avoid those signs...but they're here too.

Thanks man, glad you liked them. Man it's been a while since I was over on the Hiwassee!

Thanks Jay! Actually this is one time I am ready for spring and some greenery.

The Hiwassee River is nice but with all the rain in the area, they have been discharging significant water quantities. Hence the river is pretty un-fishable to me. I was in Reliance today and checked the river out. It is pretty when there is an early morning or early evening fog rising from the water.

Out along the Hiwassee River again today. Saw my first Bloodroot and Hepatica in bloom. The Trillium is budded up and looking like it will bloom inside a week. I think spring has sprung in East Tennessee!

Saw a robin today on my walk with the dog, along with some jays, a woodpecker (got very close, too) and a bunch of chickadees. Also had to dig my warm stuff out, we got a cold snap after some nice warm weather that took all the snow away. Soon enough though, the warm weather is here to stay!

Can't see any of your pics, btw, mist.

I know, photobucket just did some sort of change over and they went away. I just checked my bandwidth and it was fine so I guess they messed up the image codes somehow.

This was just the first signs anyway. Stuff is popping out all over so soon I'll be doing a proper spring picture post anyway :)
