I've been working on this on and off for about 6 months. Just too many irons in the fire. Anyway it's 3 1/2" closed. Blade is ATS 34 with 416 SS liners. The bolsters and walnut scales are from my fathers old shop and I made it on my great grandfathers stiddy and with his mini ball peen hammer. Blade is a little tight. It walked and talked on the mock up with temporary pins but I must have peened the pivot pin too much. I was going to take it apart to fix it but figured I would use it as a reminder of progress. Hopefully there's progress.

Thanks for lookingClosed .jpgEdge view.jpgFull Open.jpgHalf Stop.jpg

Well, hopefully the next one will not take six months.

I think it takes a lot of guts to want to make slip joint knives, thanks for sharing this one.

Good luck, keep us posted.

William,
CONGRATULATIONS on the completion of Your first slip joint.
I think it is a FINE LOOKING KNIFE. Your Grandfather and Father
would be very proud of Your work. The apple doesn't fall too far
from the tree. Your knife has a nice historical appeal to it, especially
with the walnut scales and the clean traditional design. The smaller
nail nick is neat eye catcher. Thank You for sharing this with us.

p.s.
I am glad You didn't take it back apart, I would rather have the blade
a little tight than a little loose. ;)

Thanks for the kind words. It's a transition pattern that never went into production before the Federal Switchblade Act and the demise of the company.

I'm just happy that I might be able to still buy a Schrade :)
Looks good!
