i know others have already had snow this year. but today was the first snow ive seen this year. i guess ill have to deal with the fact that winter is here whether i want it to be or not. time to bust out the warm clothes and put away the bike.... how sad. But there is an upside to the cold. i use a wood burner at my house so this is the perfect time of year to put my knives to work! any body eles heating there homes the old fashioned way?? lets see your Busse's in action!

I used to have an old wood burner, but that changed a few years back when we put in an outside wood/pellet burning furnace. Nothing beats the smell of a wood stove. It still needs to have wood cut every year to keep the house warm, but alas, I've only got small Busse's. Perhaps its the perfect reason to get a chopper.

Snow......what is this snow you speak of?

I've worn shorts for Christmas the last 4 years

We are supposed to get that storm tuesday or wednesday, snow and rain.
I heat with a coal stove, 15 to 20 hour burn time
It can burn wood as well. I always keep a healthy stash of kindling, logs and INFI to spit them....

Great pictures! Those users look like they love to put a hurting on that fire wood and delicious bacon!

Jason and David, I almost envy you guys for not having to deal with this fluffy white stuff that falls every year. Mainly because I absolutely love the beach, BUT if I couldn't have at least one snowball fight every year I think that I'd be very upset.

Snow...????????????????? Christmas day here is centered on moving from air conditioner to air conditioner to the swimming pool and back to the air conditioner... ;)

No snow here "yet" but they are saying just light fluries this week . But it's cold enough that my HOG motorcycle is put away and my HOG knives are getting more use ;)

HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS :emot-yarr:

Bring on the snow. I can't wait to fire up the wood burner. I burn a lot of maple. It makes the whole house smell like BACON. Mmmmmm......:D

We went from warm fall conditions where I was working outside wearing flip flops on my barefeet to full winter condions with a fresh foot of snow in less than 12 hours yesterday. I had the snowmobile running and moved the pickup down to the winter parking area to reduce the need to shovel the full length of the driveway. Now the trails need to be packed down and more snow is forecasted.

Well, its the end of November and I've been burning wood for about 6 weeks. Just last night I finally finished splitting what I hope will get me through the year. I burn yellow cedar and hemlock almost exclusively. I wish there were some hardwood choices around here, but there isn't. I keep my FFBM and a rubber mallet next to the stove for splitting kindling. I was planning on using my new 1311, but it usually takes a couple months for me to get up the courage to pop the cherry on a new Busse.

I would do a picture, but I'm not sure how to get one from the iphone to the forum.

I do not use a woodburner but my grandma does! She makes my cousins chop the wood  I'm already excited for spring ;)

Noooooo snoooowww!!! =( Luckily it didn't last long. I am not ready for winter at ALL.

We only use a wood burner. But I never use my knives to process the fire wood. That’s what axes are for. Pretty cold winters here in Norway, and nothing feels better in the cold than the heat from burning wood. Totally different feeling than from electric ovens and the likes.
