Just got my first "real" knives for my collection: Spyderco Endura and a Cold Steel Voyager. Okay, so they're not a high quality custom, but its a start, right?

I was a bit surprised at the size of these critters, but they fit my hand well. The Voyager seemed a little smoother in opening than the Endura, but the Endura may get smoother with use. Both came razor sharp (I'm running out of hair on my left arm to shave off).

Next is a Sharpmaker and possibly something from Fallkniven.

Congrats on your first collection members :) Knives don't have to be expensive customs to enjoy them. Anything that YOU like, is what you should purchase.

Haven't delt with Spyderco a whole lot, but I'm very fond of the Cold Steel Voyager folders.

Why stop at arms, you've still got legs :D

Those are a verey good start into the world of high quality knives. You don't have to have custom knives to enjoy high quality knives. The Fallkniven are very good indeed. I think you will be very happy with that choice.

Since I have not done so in the past, let me welcome you to BladeForums.

Great choices for your first knives! I have several knives in my collection, some quite expensive: Spyderco Military with pearl "bug" inlay, Spyderco Civilian, Emerson CQC7, etc. But the knives that I end up carrying everyday are my Cold Steel Voyagers (medium), and occasionally my Spyderco Delica! And definitely go for the Sharpmaker! The best $45 I ever spent!!

Welcome to the Forums!

You're off to a good start. You might want to take a look at the Spyderco Native and Camillus EDC. Both are great knives for the money.

Steve,You can't go wrong with that combo.I've been carrying an Endura since they first came out.I had to send to Colorado to get one because the local Cutlery World stores didn't have them they were so new.As far as Cold Steel knives go,I've always wanted the Gunsite Tanto but every one I handled at the Gun Shows had a gritty opening.Maybe they were lemons?? Anyhow good luck with Your collection.tom.:)

the Spy Endura was also my first "real" knife,
and still is one of my favorite users,
(have always 2 laying around in the house, wife also likes to carry one, + 1 full serrated in the car as emergency tool)

 :D

a good start bud, my first was a cold steel gunsite tanto, and a spydie delica....welcome, and get ready to spend some $$ lol

You can't go wrong with Spyderco. My boyfriend carries his Endura every day. I'm going to get him the stainless steel version very soon. It's a real workhorse of a knife!
