First Spyderco M390...

Just got my Spyderco Manix 2 G10 (Brown) in the mail. My first Spyderco in M390. Jesus this thing is SHARP..!!!
Now I have to find a decent deep carry clip for it. MXG or Lynch..?
Congrats on the new knife. I’ve had clips from both and don’t see much difference lately. With supply shortages, you might be better served to find one that’s available.

I prefer the design of the MXG clips. I have a couple of them. I'm actually carrying a Rockjumper with one now. It feels better in my hand, carries better in my pocket, and looks a lot nicer versus the stock clip.

The Lynch clips are okay. They might be a little more sturdy in theory but any clip can get tweaked with the force of a body moving against something. My main issue with the Lynch clips is the wide ring for screw access. Aside from looks, it has a bigger ergonomic footprint. That can be good or bad depending on the knife.

I’d first look to find a Lynch. I’m biased because my first one came in a box that had some of Chris’s artwork on it. I imagine he’s gotten much busier because no art with the last purchase, just a fine clip.

I prefer MXG, easier to install.

Manix is a great knife. Here is my pimped out one with CTS-XHP. I actually plan to carry mine for wooden Wednesday. The action and ease of use of the CBBL just get better with time.

I don't think you'd be disappointed with either. I personally have Lynch clip's on all of my spyderco's, sandwashed standard clip has withstood a lot of abuse on my work knife Para 3.

That's my favorite pattern for the MXG clips. It looks nice. It's generally comfortable in any orientation. This particular shape also minimizes the hot spot when placed for tip-down carry. While I don't always carry tip-down, it's usually a Spyderco when I do. It makes this clip pattern an EDC MVP.

Sweet knife, BTW.

I like the shorty as well, though I will never carry tip down. Ever. The problem I ran into was it's been hard to find it in stock, especially in other colors. My other Spydies have the standard long clip from them.

Btw, my Manix is at this point just as quick to open and close as an Axis lock, albeit a tiny bit more effort to disengage, but not much. Plus, it's a stronger lock. I haven't modded the lock either as some do.

Some deep carry clip Spyderco love for y'all.

Nice selection. That Manix with the wood scales is still the standout for me. I'd be tempted to try a titanium ball cage lock.

Tip-up is great for my right pants pocket. Sometimes, I end up carrying something else in a pocket holster that precludes a knife from going into my right pants pocket. I've come to prefer tip-down for carrying against the right-most seam of my back pocket. I also like tip-down for an appropriately sized knife in a shirt, vest, or breast pocket. It all depends on what I'm wearing, what I'm doing, and the weather.

Coincidentally, all my Spyderco knives are FRN/FRCP so clip length is dictated by what lands on the pad.

I’m excited - while searching around and trying to decide what to get for my first Spyderco I found a straggler m390 Manix (brown g10) and couldn’t pass it up… you’ll have to wait, blackout PM2! does anyone know if we can swap this m390 blade out eventually with an S30V version? With maybe say… a blackout Manix?

I have Lynch clips on all of mine. I heard somewhere that Lynch was the original and then MXG essentially copied the basic pattern though I dont know enough to level any kind of accusation. In terms of functionality I am sure both are going to serve you well.

M390 is great stuff and from all accounts Spyderco does a good job with it. That factory edge should hold up for a good long while.

Oh yeah no prob, people do "Franken" Spydies all the time. I've thought of doing that with my PM2. Its pimped out with burlap micarta scales, black screws, black MXG clip, and a Ti lanyard hole, its just a satin S30V. I think a black M4 blade would set it off nicely.

I've got a Delica with M390 under the hood... it's SCARY sharp!
