So I just received my first Spyderco knife, and let's just say that I'm impressed
:)

A buddy of mine had a Delica 4 for a while (recently lost it down the side of a mountain) and I've always liked it, but now I truly know what I feels like to own one!
I will say that there is a bit more horizontal blade play than I'd like in a knife that I paid more than $75 for, but it's by no means a deal breaker

Just wanted to drop by and show yall my latest knife in my collection!

What a great looking knife! My brother has that knife. I've fondled it a few times and will probably buy one if the near future. Have fun with yours!

Took it to work today to show off to my coworkers
Some of them freaked out when I told them the price, but then again, they don't understand that you pay for quality

Even so, everyone liked it (or that's what they told me)!
:P

The Manix series are my favorite larger Spydercos. I love my Blue Manix 2 for doing stuff around the house, and I am pretty sure I am going to pick up another Manix XL too.

I was going to recommend tightening the pivot, but then I used whats left of my shriveled brain to figure out that this knife is riveted. I don't mind a little horizontal play, and in fact adjust my knives that way to facilitate easy deployment.

And I like the look of that knife a lot, btw. Need one.

On mine, I find it isn't so much play as a bit of flex. The pivot is fairly tight, yet I can move the blade side to side. It's a fairly large knife with plastic handles, so I don't worry too much about it.

As far as price, even $75 isn't too bad as knives go. Non-knife people don't know what knives cost, so it will seem like a lot to them. I meet very few people into knives in my daily life. Most people that I've seen carry a knife really aren't into them and generally carry a cheap one.

I had a coworker tell me that for all I spend on knives, I could buy a nice gun. I said "true," but I can't bring my gun to work now can I :)

The more I use and carry it, the more I like it
:)

Very pretty, and the handle scales really catch attention, even with the ladies

Completely pleased with this purchase, will probably be getting more Spyderco knives in the future!

If you want to find out how much horizontal play there is, open the blade, hold the lock open, and then wiggle the blade back and forth. You should be able to feel and hear when the blade moves from one side of the scale to the other.

My Manix 2 has very minor horizontal play. My Manix 2 XL has no horizontal play, but it is tighter (it doesn't drop with gravity when unlocked.)
