After being a few months into backpacking, bushcraft, knife collecting, etc. I keep hearing about the quality of Spyderco. I visit this area of the forum and after some thought, I decided to buy the paramilitary. I just got this knife today. This knife is AMAZING!!!! There's something to be said for a razor sharp edge with NO blade play. I feel like I've made the best decision for an EDC. I just wanted to say thanks to you spyderco enthusiasts for leading me to buy this wonderful knife and here is some knife porn! Enjoy :)

Congrats on the new knife! It feels just right and smooth. The spyderco para D2 was my first spyderco as well. I'm sure it won't be my last either. Enjoy the new knife or be like me and make it a safe queen. I have a caly3 SE for my EDC while the para stays at home nice and safe.

Yeah I bought the Delica but wished I had the Para now. But I want a Dragonfly also. Thought the Delica would be in the middle. Guess I'm going to buy a Para and Dragonfly. I want all my EDC to be legal.

You sure are spoiled for buying such a nice spydie for your first one :p

Make sure you keep that d2 para nice and sharp! Since it is d2, it does take a bit of extra care, so wipe it down with some oil to prevent rust.

Ya I think i'm gonna get a spyderco sharpmaker to maintain my blades. I dont wanna mess up trying to sharpen my para freehand. As far as oil, do I need to wipe just the blade part down or do I need to take apart the knife and oil the inside as well? I may be spoiled with the paramilitary but i'm sure the chinook3 i'll be gettin soon will make me spoiled rotten, lol.

Great choice for your first Spyderco. You're going to love the Chinook too.

The D2 Para is one of my all-time favorite knives. It gets worse from here. If you're truly of the Cult of the Para, you'll be picking up some of S30V blades before long. If you value your money, don't look at the digi-cam models...

Good choice, great knife. I have the same one you do. I liked it so much I bought another one like it as well as a digi and a black handled one. These have to be some of the best knives Spyderco makes.
