First Spyderco! Super Blue Mule

I was initially looking for a Caly 3.5 Super Blue, but seeing as they don't turn up so often I decided to satisfy my Super Blue desire with a Mule. I've not decided what kind of grip I'm going to put on it, but they'll probably be from Halpern.
On Saturday I visited an amazing knife shop in Seki City. I picked up some Katana oil (clove oil) to protect the Aogami plus 4m of paracord, Super polishing paste and an old Spyderco leather roll. The guy in the store told me its about 25 years old and was made for the sharpening stones. I'm sure I'll find a good use for it!!!

Two weeks after I got the Mule, I finally found the Caly!!! It should be here very soon:)

Nice Mule. I want one very much and the Super Blue seems great, would be my first choice. (M4 would be second, not sure if it was produced in that steel)...Para cord wrap?....some pics when its done please. Nice get.

That leather roll is beautiful, great find.

Congrats Gifu! I saw a SB Caly on the exchange here recently and thought of you. Glad you were able to track one down.

Icky, M4 was used for the 2nd mule, I doubt they come up for sale very often, but you could get lucky. The Super Blue seems a bit easier to find.

Here is some light reading about the history of the Mule Team Project if anyone is interested:

My first and only mule is the K-390, so I'm a little spoiled :D

Good for you Gifu-boy. I'm a big fan of Super Blue and the Mule Team SB nd the Caly 3.5 SB are my favorites. That leather roll is an amazing find and you probably have many collectors PM'ing you about it.

Thanks for the info Apophus!

Thanks, The Mule will probably be for the kitchen so I won't be wrapping it. Although I might try it out just to see how it looks for when I get the next one! I managed to pick up 2 rolls. One for me and the other for my brother. He's a straight razor user, so I thought it'd make a good travel case for them.
Thanks Apophis, the Caly was on the exchange here. It's on its way from Canada. I didn't really want to buy two fairly expensive blades within a few weeks of each other, but I'd only be kicking myself if I struggled to find one further down the line. I'm not sure if the Caly was produced in Seki. I know the Mule was. It's funny because it made its way from Seki to Alabama then back to Japan where I am, which is 30 mins drive from Seki!!!

The Caly's are made in Moki.

Halpern Titanium make Mule scales with a ton of color and materials options. I think they're quasi-oem, so hopefully it's to give you a head's up even though they're not a paid dealer here.

You could also try to get some custom scales locally. That would be awesome for your SB, actually!
