So (after several ZTs, Benchmades, etc.) I finally bought my first Spyderco (Manix 2). I received it earlier today and happy to announce that I'm really impressed.

Initially, I didn't care for the look / specs of most models but the Manix 2 was a different story...definitely a well made / quality piece and it's built like a tank.

Like I said, this is my first but not likely to be my last Spyderco.

AJ you said it "May be your first but won't be your last" Once you've been bit, you just can't quit.

Congratz!
What took you so long? :D
Gat a Para next.

I didn't care for the look / specs for many of the Spyderco models that I previously saw (which is typical of not only Spyderco but other brands as well). I finally found the Manix 2 and now that I've started looking more seriously at Spydercos, I also like the Para, the Native 5, etc., etc., etc.

Welcome to the madness! :) Next you'll decide you want one in each steel, or each handle material. The next thing you realize is you have 7-8 different versions. Trust me on this. :)

I seem to always gravitate towards another Spyderco knife when I want a new knife for the collection. I will look at other brand for weeks ,give up , and just get another Spyderco. My most recent purchase was 2 Manix 2's. One all black, one satin.

Their beauty lies in the perfect functionality of their design...a thing that is hard to describe until you own and use them. But once you "get it" it's hard to look at anything else. Enjoy!

Definitely pick up a ParaMilitary 2 if you can find one (Beware of eBay...lots of Para2 fakes so a reputable dealer is your best bet). They're hard to find, but definitely well worth the wait...best knife for the money from ANY manufacturer IMHO.

+1 on this^^

Or the Military if you can't find a para2

Very true...the more I look at how it's made and functions, the more impressed I am. Don't get me wrong, I still love my ZTs and Benchmades but I will certainly be adding more Spydercos to the collection / rotation.
