Howdy all!

I've been of BF for a while now, and had a few knives, busse, camillus, becker, bm, bark river, etc. pass through my checking account and hands. It seems like the time to buy a spyderco is at hand however and all of your esteemed opinions would be much appreciated. I'm leaning towards a lock back, perhaps a manix, chinook, or scorpius. So many options..... hell maybe a blue rescue (I'm an emt) and a scorpius. Thanks for your help guys(and gals!)

Just received a Chinook II in the post today, its my sixth spydie to date and its a real beauty. If you are looking for a heavy duty, solid folder - this one is worth some serious thought. Cliff Stamps reveiw on the strength of the lock makes for some excellent reading, helped me in the decission to buy a Chinook II based on his torture testing. I'm sure the Manix would perform just as well.

You just barely missed your chance at a Calypso Jr :[ It was MY first Spyderco :]

I say go for the Manix, cuz flat grind is way cool.

I'm stuck at work for a while longer, waiting to go home to open the Manix that's sitting on my front porch (according to the UPS trace)...argghhh! Soon to be a Manix fan, methinks... ;)

frogfish is definately giving you practical advice. If, however, you're looking for a beefy, no-holds-barred folder, I have to agree - Manix is it. I've only had it in my hands for about 30 minutes, and of all the Spydercos I've ever owned, this one is BY FAR the most exciting one I've touched. There just isn't ANYTHING I see about it I don't like.

Yes, it's heavier than the FRN models, but it ain't that heavy. At least you know for sure you have a knife on you. Although I try to never use a folder to pry, this sucker looks like it probably wouldn't break.

Finally whittling down my Spyderco collection to the real keepers, and this one is one of them fo sho :D

Hmm manix definitely sounds like the winner here. That leaf blade shape is just shouting my name. I'll keep you guys posted.

There is nothing sexier than a stainless steel Native. I've got six Spyderco knives and not enough pockets to clip them to. My friends make fun of me when I carry more than two at a time.

Buy a serrated Jester. Being a kinfe snob with a bunch of Mad Dogs and an EDC Sebenza, nothing matches the Jester for ergonomics and daily function. I had one given to me for Christmas and have rarely used anything else since. Perhaps we can talk Sal into making one with real steel too. :D
