Just received my first Spyderco, A Manix(plain edge). Two questions; 1) What is the proper sharpening angle? and 2) Is the blade on this knife prone to chipping due to the steel used? Thanks

I've been EDCing a manix for about 6 mo. now and have had no more chipping then any other knife, very minor chips that can easily be sharpened out.

You will be very happy with your choice, this is the first knife I think I have ever had that I didn't feel like I was compromising on.

Thanks guys, I was torn between a Manix and an Emerson cqc7. I was debating on sending the Manix back. I feel more confident in my choice now!

Sending the manix back? OMG! Why would you do that. I got my Manix a few months ago and have been EDCing it ever since. It's great and I love the feel. The knife is a champ!

Steel is great, and you already got the sharpening angle. Though, I can't imagine why you'd need that right away. It's one of the sharpest folders I've ever seen out the box (as typical with Spydies). It has held its edge nicely too. I have yet to feel the need to sharpen it.

:)

LMAO :D :D :D What Peter said

Spydercos are not like the Highlander.... there cannot be "only one". So hmmm, what's next.... Calypso 3, Waved Endura......

Hey Guys..

Have had my Manix for a few months now,, and it's Awesome..

Great knife..
you shouldn't have a problem under normal working situations..
If prying man hole covers is a normal working situation for you,, I recommend getting a Great Neck Prybar..
