I got myself an Endura 4 FFG blue with the FRN handle and a Tenacious today and I see why people love Spyderco. I'll eventually move up to higher end Spydies :) But man I love these two knives, lol

I've got a bit of a problem though. How loose should the Endura's opening be? I've seen people open one handed with a flick of the thumb with ease, but it won't open more than halfway for me :( It was extremely stiff at first, but I broke it in a lubed it a bit and now it's at the point where if I press the lock's release, the blade will fall a bit, due to gravity. Does it need more breaking in, or will I just need to practice more?

It takes practice, but you really should not be flicking your knife open. It only damages it over time and shortens it's service life. Most lockback knives have a strong detent (meaning the blade stays in the handle). Your knife is perfectly fine, use it and enjoy it. Don't flick the knife, no need to. Open it with a smooth, controlled motion of your thumb. If you are interested in something that opens with a quick flash, get an assisted opening knife or invest in a dual action automatic.

Yeh, I don't get the point of flicking.

Hello,

I flick all my Spyderco's just about every time I open them. I don't think I've noticed any of them developing any blade play yet. I just use thumb power and zero wrist motion. I like flicking it... its fun:)

That is all,

Chris

The operative Word here is "yet". That's your prerogative Chris. If it makes you happy by all means proceed. This is discouraged by Spyderco as well.

Some of my Spyderco knives I cant help but flick open every now and then(it just feels so cool)but others like my military I open gently to reduce wear on the lock.
