I know this has probably been posted hundreds of times, but I just wanted everyone to know I've now joined the cool kids club. I honestly thought that pretty much all of the Spydercos were just ugly and I never even considered purchasing one based solely on the looks. After reading al of the rave reviews I finally decided to buy one just to see if I was really missing something.

I'm glad I did.

I received it yesterday and was blown away at how great this knife feels in the hand. Compared to a lot of other modern folders with clearly defined finger choils, the appearance of the PM2 is so different that it doesn't look like it would be that comfortable to hold. I'm fairly new to knife collecting, but this is clearly going to be my benchmark for comfort moving forward.

I might be lucky because my blade came razor sharp with a perfectly symmetrical bevel. I mean perfect! And while I do own another knife in S30V, I've never been able to get it remotely sharp as the PM2 came from the factory.

The action on mine was pretty stiff though. It was really hard to flick open. I played with it all night hoping it would break in, but finally decided to adjust the pivot screw and add a drop of oil. I learned the hard way that when adjusting the pivot screw make micro adjustments and test each time. I loosened it 1/4 turn, released the lock, and then promptly guillotined my finger and bled all over the place...lesson learned!

i debated on whether or not to even post this since it has been discussed before, but finally I just couldn't stand it and had to share. I'm just another example of someone who realized that looks aren't everything and you can miss out on a lot of great knives if you have a similar bias. Function over form wins out every time.

KUDOS!! PM2 ROCKS as you may have noticed by all the threads here!!! John :)

"Spyderco is built for the hand not for the eye". They are made to be used and they work very well.

Welcome to the club! The PM2 is quite an introduction to the brand. It's a classic, especially among us nuts. You're right about a little going a long way on the pivot screw. It takes a decent amount of time to break in from my experience, so set it to where you like it and forget it for the most part.

The PM2 is a great knife, congrats! If I could only have one, I'd be fine with just a Para 2 :D

Thanks for the warm welcome. I have no doubt that I will own more Spyderco models. The military is definitely on that list. As is the manix 2, Native, etc. It seems to be a never-ending list, but I've got plenty of time.

I may have been late to the party, but I honestly feel like the selection and quality of knives offered today (from Spyderco and every other major brand) make this the "Golden Era" of knife collecting.

The contributors on this forum have never led me wrong, and I have already started researching my next Spyderco purchase!
