I have (had) a Hell Razor with OD crinkle coat and tan slabs. The OD coating on the blade did nothing for me. What else to do with this Hell Razor besides trying to sell her, strip it. This is my first attempt at stripping a Busse Knife, any knife for that matter. First I stripped the knife using Klean-Strip and then proceeded to polishing the blade. The following pics depict the process that took about 1.5 hours this afternoon. The polishing is not complete, yet, but I am satisfied with the results. Enjoy.
OD Hell Razor with tan slabs before stripping..
Tools of the trade, Klean-Strip Stripper, Ryobi Buffing Kit, gloves .....
Hell Razor soaking in the stripper bath
Pic of the crinkle coat finish lifting off of the blade after about 10 minutes
Here is a shot of the blade of the Hell Razor after the coating is cleaned off prior to polishing. The blade is a gun metal color, I almost left it this way.
Here is a couple of pics of the blade after about an hour of polishing, not quite complete, but looking nice. The blade turned out shiny but not yet satin. The dimples in the blade are evident also.
