Well, I got a BK7 tonight after holding out for a while. I should of got it sooner !
I really like it a lot. Having used my BK2 and 9 for a few months , I found out what great knives they are. The 7 can slice real well and chop, but not as good as a 9. Given that, it's slightly smaller size than the 9 makes it carry a little easier for a bush survival blade. It's blade is only an inch longer than my SRK or Esee 6 ,yet it's a pretty big knife. I understand why it's one of the most recommended blades for that purpose. I plan on putting it through a lot more use , but I see it becoming one of my heavily used knives. Great do-it-all blade.
Thanks a lot BK&T for producing a well made and decent priced product.!
( I tightened up the handle screws and added loc-tite as I do all my bolted knives.)

Sweet, thanks for posting.. I've ordered a BK7 and now just playing the waiting game.. so do you like your 2? seems to me everyone loves it, I bought the 7 because I just sold my SRK. and missed the medium range blade...

post pics after some use..

I like my 2 a lot.I've beat it hard with no problems or edge failure. The 7 fills a niche for me in between the 5"-9" knives. I wanted the 7 to try it out, and I'm pretty happy so far. Tighten the bolts when you get it though. A lot of bolted knives aren't torqued down very securely from the factory I find. It would suck to lose a fastener.I loc-tite all my bolts , unless they are hard to loosen.
The carbon steel Kabar uses is excellent, and takes a wicked edge ,no matter the sharpening system. You're gonna like it a whole lot when you get it!

I do loves my 7. Great all around knife. I personally like my 2 better, because is BEEFY!!! Moose

I just got the 2 and while it seems freaking STRONG, for a hiking knife or out in the woods knife I'd prefer the longer lighter blade. I'd rather fend off a bear or mountain lion with a quick 7" blade than a heavy fat one.

Now the 2 is STRONG and I'd use that for my wood chopper and all around base camp use.

each blade has its advantages. frankly the bear or mountain lion would find himself on the business end of a .40 rather than a bk-7, but i definitely agree. and i have to also agree with moose. there's just something about holding a 1/4" thick hunk of sharpened steel! :D

Bk7 is sweet. I beat the hell out of mine (older version) and only had to touch up the edge. I like the Campanion also.

Yup, I've been in love with mine since RescueRiley turned me onto it. Great, simple design. I think of it as an 'American leuku'. Great for making snap-cuts on branches/etc, or for all out chopping to section some medium sized firewood. It'll still carve you a fuzz stick, just not quite like your favorite scandi will.

The BK2 didn't do it for me, and the BK9 doesn't offer enough functionality above the BK7 to justify the weight/size. The Crewman, on the other hand, is another cool beast and right near the top of my favorite Becker offerings.

For now I'm sitting happy with my BK7 and Chesnut Ridge kydex.

I'm partial to choppers so my top pick of the line-up is the BK9. The BK7 comes in second. I'm one of the few it seems who doesn't like the BK2 very much. I prefer thinner stock on a shorter blade.

AF, I'm with you. I prefer thinner stock on short knives like that.

IIRC The BK-7 was designed as a "replacement" for the Kabar. Same length blade, but wider with the signature Becker handle. If the edge is done like the one on the BK-9 then Ethen did a good job coming up with a replacement for the Kabar.

hiwa, please keep us posted on your BK-7 and the adventures it goes on.

Will do. My better half keeps hogging the digi-camera,so when I can steal it back, I'll post some pics. It does really well batonning, and chops better than I thought. I packed a firesteel and sharpening stone ( small Buck fine diamond) into the pouch , which is a handy arrangement. My son (8) absolutely loves the little remora that came with it. He's already a knife-savvy kid and learning how to do feather-sticks !

i second that motion:thumbup:my springfield xd 40 sub goes everywhere with me,as does an extra mag.there are no bears or mountain lions here, but weve got some really nasty venomous snakes and some scroungy coyotes.of course,my bk-2 and bk-11 are there too:D

Bk-7 is Now my Fav. knife. THis knife is shaving sharp. shaved 2 whole longs about the diameter of a base ball. THis sucker is still sharp. It has replaced my SP-8 an My OKC Kukri. I love this knife. THe only con i have is the handle comes loos after chopping. So im gonna try and put sum loctite on it to see if that works. But overall its a great knife for under 100 bucks. Oh I have pryed with it and it work flawless........
Keep Em' Sharp. Phil
