I plan on giving a gift of a Kershaw Strobe with aftermarket scales. I've never disassembled a knife before or changed a scale (don't even know if I can change the scale without disassembly). If full disassembly, are there things I need besides the right bits and but driver? Are there extra steps/precautions because of the ball beating system? Or is there a way to just change the scales? Any advice/help/instructions are appreciated!

With the Strobe, the scales are attached to the liners. You'll be able to take the scales off with out fully disassembling the knife, you don't even have to remove the pivot.
