I got this FrankenBecker from Tom Gannon a few weeks ago and at first I thought it was perfect. Then I got to thinking. that I should do a patina and after a lot of looking and a little bit of asking around I ended up doing a mango treatment. Let me know what y'all think. Any suggestions on how I could improve would be appreciated.

Nice, what is the purpose of the groove/ choil at the top?

Very cool! With out reading the stamp, I would have never guessed it was a BK7!

I like it man, It looks kind of similar to my one i did with pasta sauce. Good job.

If you look up "BK7/10 Honey Badger" you'll find a lot more information on this particular knife. The ground down portion on the top of the knife is for the webbing of your hand when you choke up using the choil if I remember correctly.

L4NE4 Got it!! Tom Gannon did the real work on this. I got it from him already reworked into a 10 dopple ganger. Not sure what "inspired" him to do it but I really love it. I get to use the crap outta this one and keep my 10LE minty fresh!

O.D. - The choil on top seems to be a thumb rest and is comfortable when doing camp chores or kitchen work at home.

Pug - Tom worked it down to 5.5" and kept the top grind unsharpened so it is legal to carry here in Texas. I don't ever see myself doing that but I guess it's good to know I could if I ever went completely knife knutz!!

Now that we're talking a bit about grinds, can someone give me a thread or two about the guy who ground the swedge off his BK9? That thing was seriously awesome.

Once again Clich is a funny man!!! No I wasn't asking for advise on general improvement just the patina. I've seen some that look really incredible.
But on the other hand Clich, if you have any advise on how I could improve myself in general I would love to hear it. Got anything on how to be a better father or son?

Less forum time. I haven't tried that but I hear it works. O and a cool patina is worchestershire sauce and a paper towel wrap for a few hours

Anyone know how the guy managed to shorten the blade and keep the blade belly still intact?

same as you would on bar stock. Since the 7 is just a longer version of the ten, just tracing the outline overtop would be a good guide

Wait, you did this! How long did it take?

not me, a fella names TaGannon. But since the steel is hardened and you dont wanna mess with the HT, i imagine it takes alot of time an patience. Unless of course you know how to HT and can anneal it, then regrind, then re heat treat
