I have alot of modern stuff but I really like the Queen Mountain Man and the Cattle King, can you guys give me your thoughts on these two knives and if anyone has pics they can post would be great! Thanks

I don't have either, but I'm sure one of our fine folksy folks will come along and give you what you want. Welcome to the best place on BF

It's good to have you here, Rick. I'm surprised you haven't gotten more replies. I don't own either knife but I do know that I like the D2 that Queen uses on their knives. This thread has some pics and info about the Mountain Man. It's available in either a lockback or slip joint version. The Cattle King obviously gives you a variety of blades which allows you to sharpen them in different ways for various tasks if so desired. The single blade Mountain Man would probably be more comfortable in the hand for extended cutting without the other closed blades and the lanyard hole is a nice addition if you want to carry it in your back pocket.

I'm sure you'll get some more opinions from those here who have one or both of these knives soon.

Rick, you might also want to take a look at the 2011 Blade Forum knife we are doing this year. It's being produced by GEC just for us. There is an order thread stickied at the top of this forum, and a discussion thread below. You might take a liking to it (ok...my shameless production has ended).

I don't own a mountain man, but I've always liked the pattern. I'm just going for older knives these days and not the newer runs. People I have talked to say it a great knife.

Here you go, next to a Buck 110 for comparison. I will not comment on the action figures, I am busted.

I got this one as a Christmas gift. It is a big knife, and I would sheath carry given the right sheath. It is big for the pockets.

i've used the mt. man off & on for 2 years & it's a real workhorse. probably better to carry in a sheath since this folder is fairly large.--dennis welcome

I love Queen D2 steel. I have one of their fixed blades, and a Canoe. They both do a lot of work for me. And, they hold an edge for a LONG time. I really like them. The Mountain Man, and the Cattle King are on my wish list to purchase. I've been really happy with Queen quality, fit and finish. The only issue I've seen is their knives come from the factory very dull. Both of the ones I have with D2 came very dull. You will need some sharpening equipment with diamonds in it to sharpen the D2. I use Lansky with diamond hones.

Thanks guys, when funds permit I will justbuy both of them, dannyp thanks for the link!

Rick--

Run!!

I first posted here a month ago (I've been a BF member since 1999), and I've spent more in the past month on traditional, than I probably have in the past 5 years on moderns!

Here is my Marbles large Stockman made by Queen. It is the same as Queens Cattleking Stockman but w/jigged bone and 1095 instead....
