Hi everyone. I felt the need to start pics of my first attempt at making handle scales as I read alot on this website before I tried.
Please keep in mind I still have alot of work to do mainly sanding. I'm wet sanding with walnut oil got up to 1500 grit today and plan to go over it again from what I've read for prolly a week every day.
Anyway thanks for all the good info everyone provided in threads I got a lot of knowledge before I started. Well I can't seem to figure out how to post pics I'll gave to work on that.

Welcome to Bladeforums!
I'm thinking your post might be better in Tinkering and E?

I noticed when I used to wet sand, the grit would shed, and imbed itself in the wood, dulling the luster and greying the wood.

Now I dry sand with wet/dry sand paper, and just hit it with my hands to clean it out every 20-30 seconds (or when you notice it loading), once it loads too quickly to justify cleaning, or it stops cutting, grab a new piece... Sandpaper is a consumable, buy the quality stuff and use it dry. Your finish will thank you.

- I go up to 5k then use pink scratchless buffing compound if I do not have voids in the wood. If I do, I will often buff with bare leather (suede then skin side).
