First time rat questions

hey guys! I posted a question in the general knife discussion area the other day asking about a fixed blade. I said I needed a small fixed blade and many recommended the izula but after a careful look it was a bit small. but everyone recommended the rat line of knives since I use it for work and its gonna see a beatin. So I started looking at the rc-3 and realized the rc-4 is really only about a half inch longer overall but what appears to be a lot more blade. I wanna be able to carry it on my belt everyday and Im not too familiar with the sheath system they use. Do I need to order the one with the leather sheath or will the regular one that comes with it go on my belt? any suggestions where to buy cause Im after one with the orange handles too. thanks in advance.- Joel ( rookie rat)
 
Get the RC-4 and the molle back. That combo will give you the most options for carry. If it matters to you, the RC-4 sheath is kydex while the RC-3 sheath is plastic injection molded but still nice.

This is where I got mine and will continue giving them my business as long as they provide the excellent service they currently do.

I think the kydex sheath is more than adequate, it's a very low profile bare essentials sheath that gets the job done in an unobtrusive way. If you don't like the kydex, you can always order a leather sheath ANYTIME you want.

Bingo :thumbup:. The kydex sheath makes the knife disappear. Unobtrusive, great retention, versatile...a great sheath for a great knife. I put my RC4 on my belt with the provided MOLLE belt clips, or you could rig it yourself with paracord for an even more unobtrusive set-up. You don't need the leather sheath to wear it on your belt unless you prefer leather to kydex, or want it to ride lower :thumbup:. And you can still attach the sheath to packs and MOLLE stuff if you wish, though it may not be as secure as the dedicated MOLLE back sheath.

And +1 on KSF :thumbup:. Looks like they have Orange on OD Green in stock too :)

I use mine with the kydex sheath and ust some paracord. Fits perfect on the belt. The knife coms with some instructions of carry options.

if you go standard sheathing opt for the molle backing if you order from KSF you can get a cool leather rig with your Orange RC4 or email and talk to Derrick and he'll hook you up!
 
I am a leather nut (no, don't take that wrong!) so I prefer leather. BUT if you have no preference, or prefer kydex--give the standard sheathing a try. It is EXCELLENT!

The Kydex is very well thought out and fits perfectly. I think that unless you are a leather snob (like me) there is no reason to go that direction.
