First time stencil purchase ?

I used an app to create a basic makers mark that I would like to get a stencil for to use with an electro chem etch.

After searching and seeing high recommendations I sent this along with an email through the link on Ernies website but haven’t gotten a response in 4 days. I’ll try to follow up again later today unless anyone would point me in another direction. It’s my first go at getting a stencil made so I’m open to suggestions.

I have used T.U.S. Technologies for years with great service.

That’s who I used. Thy did me good and mine are very old and still working strong. I highly recommend using the correct electrolyte. I will text you when I get home on the assorted pack I bought. Very happy with it.

Thanks got it taken care of, 2 emails and a phone call they’ll be shipped out tomorrow.
I've used TUS for my one and only purchase and have zero complaints. BUT with all the glowing responses of the above link I know who I'll use in the future!

I and a friend followed a YouTube video to build my etching machine, and now I design my stencils at home, and have them printed by TUS industries. Jan is my contact there, and he will take good care of you if you go with him.

I lucked out and someone years ago gave me a bench top power supply that is variable with both AC and DC out puts. I first made my hand piece from a brass bar stock I made but have since bought the hand piece of Jantz. Do your self a favor and search Amazon for DC bench top power supplies. $38. A simple old phone charger that puts out low voltage AC with work. A few simple wiring fittings and your have your self a first class etcher.

Well if it does, you can expect nice results, after a bit of a learning curve, that is.

In my usage I found that AC was all that I needed to use on Abel and D2 if I used the proper electrolytes. It gave me a nice deep and dark etch. I messed with the DC and switch to AC but got ghosting. This disappeared when I switched to just AC. Let me dig up a picture.

Thanks for the tip. I told her I’d be using it on carbon steel 90% and stainless 10% of the time. She said they offer a knifemakers electrolyte kit that she would send the proper solution based on my use.
Speaking of stainless I need to get a couple pieces of AEBL from you.

JTknives JTknives your inbox is full so I’ll ask here.
What are roughly the dimensions for the KITH 3 profile you offer, I could not find them listed? Looks maybe about 10” blade, 16”OAL and 2” H, if your background grid is 1/2”.
If you could post the solutions you found to work well, I’ll try to double check before mine ships out.
Thanks again.

Do these work with saltwater? I don't have access to electrolyte here in Argentina and shipping I'm not sure if its allowed.

Was it the Red Beard Ops video by chance ?
I built one from the same video, or at least from the schematic in the links provided. Very easy with materials purchased from the local hobby electronics store, whole thing took around 2 hours to make.
