Well, I thought I'd start a thread for those that have talked or have met Jerry in person.
Well, yesterday I was talking to Amy on the phone and she's like ok, hold on Jerry wants to talk to you. Talking to Amy was not a big deal, I had met her and even got hugs from her, she I knew was cool and was pretty laid back. But wow, I all of a sudden the big man, Jerry. I was nervous, I didn't know what to say or what was expected. And I almost never get like that either.
But anyway, he was really cool about everything. Really laid back and we just talked about what was going on and stuff like that. Well, I was calling from work and so I couldn't talk all that long cause my boss started yelling at me so I had to get off. But I bet it would be cool to sit down and have a beer or whatnot with him. But he is really down to earth too. Well, I'm glad I got to speak with him and so very glad he made it a point to say hi.
Well, I just thought I'd start a thread so everyone can state what their first impression of him was and whatnot.

I remember the first time there was soft music in the background, rose pedals laid out...err, wait wrong person....oh god wrong person!!

The first time I spoke to Jerry Busse I believe the conversation was in the wee hours of the morning, possibly on purpose so I couldn't remember a single detail of what was said :)

Dan--- You were nervous talking to Jerry because he can whoop yer azz!
:yawn::D

I dunno... I think I'd rather talk to Amy-0...;) And anyway, I wouldn't want to interfere with Jerry and his drinking! :D

.

Jerry who????

Ask Bravado, he is the one always wanting to shake hands............

:D

My first real conversation with Jerry was in 1994. I had ordered a BB Steel Heart II from him, my first Busse, in mid-1994. In mid-1995 I received my second Busse, an
A2 Badger Attack. Cosmetically it was pretty rough, the only Busse I have ever received like this. I called the Busse number, Jerry answered, I said, "this is Mike Hammonds" and he immediately replied, "down in Alabama, right?"
Wow! I had briefly placed an order about a year before and he remembered? To me this was incredible as I am the world's worst at remembering names.

I described the problem, he said, "Send it in, we'll take care of it." A few weeks later a perfect knife showed up.

i have tried and tried but can only get the janitor and he's usually drunk. but yes, it would be cool to talk with this jerry guy.

yes, talking and drinking and smoking with Jerry, and the Hogs, is definitely a good time.

In my experience, Jerry has always been easy to talk to, helpful with advice and generous with his time always, and always a man of honor. For this as much as for his blades, he enjoys who knows how many thousands of friends worldwide who would do anything they could for him, and he for them. He seems to me completely devoted to the idea of making a friend of everyone he can, and between his personal commitment to all who depend on him, and a talent for making the best blades on the planet, his success rate at converting customers to friends is obviously astronomical.

I remember i met him when i was 18 at blade with my mother and father, he was really cool and my pa and he wore like the same Hawaiian shirt to dinner and dad got a free knife cuz of it. Fun was had by all.

Jerry has never met a stranger. He's met some strange people though.

If you can't talk to Jerry, you must be be mute:eek:

I was standing in front of the Busse booth in 2003 and answering people's questions as the crew behind the counter was swamped. I guess the responses I was giving were accurate and I must have sounded like I knew what I was doing, because the next thing I knew there was a mighty big hand on my sholder. I turned around and came face-to-face with Jerry Busse. I shook the man's hand and the next thing I knew he was saying that I was on the wrong side of the counter. Before I knew what was happening he was guiding me behind the counter and I was part of the Busse Family. :)

Then came the dinner at Pappadeaux and I learned never to leave a drink unattended when Jerry is up and about. Holly learned that lesson the hard way. :D
