My trail hawk arrived yesterday. I threw it today. I was throwing at a stump (all that was easily available) that was about 18"x18". After about four throws, I was sticking it fairly regularly. Maybe 2 out of three. I had to hit fairly center or it would glance off the side. I didn't step off the distance but I was fairly close. 12' to 15' I suppose. I'm pretty sure the hawk was making only one rotation.

I assume that to start, you want a consistent distance, and that you want to use just your arm with no wrist snap so you get a consistent rotation. Am I right in my assumptions? After you get this down, you would want to double your distance—right? Am I on the right track?

Here ya go
Avery's how to videos.

Watch his videos, he has several on throwing, that's how I learnt; they should answer all your questions and give you some strong tips to go off of.

Consistency is all about muscle memory, try to throw the same every time, find a stance you like, stand about 5 steps away from your target, keep your forearm straight and throw.
