I just finished up this special compact Scout. This is the first time I have used sheep horn and I think it came out pretty cool!
It has different reddish colored streaks running through the horn, which looks very neat.
The blade is Elmax and is flat ground to a nice thin edge. The blade is 3.75" tip to handle and 8.3" OAL. The tang is tapered down to .041".
It has copper pins that I darkened a bit for a nice warm look.

Thanks for looking!

I like it Ben.

Not some of the most well figured sheep's horn out there BUT it is very elegant. The contouring is nicely done and the choice of liners and fittings is A+. Completely agree on your "warm" description.

No knock on you but I would have loved a high satin blade finish here.

That turned out awesome Ben!! Love the liners and the sheep horn looks great with the finish on the Elmax.

That turned out very nice. Happens to be 2 of my favorite knife making materials.

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it! I like stain finishes as well, just going for a different look. Everyone makes shiny blades. ; )

Thanks Greg!

Ben Ive always loved you blade finishes, this one is no exception. How do you accomplish this finish, if you don't mind sharing?

I first get it to a nice 320-400 grit finish and then media blast it. Then it gets a soak in a feric chloride/vinegar mix for 5 10 min. After that it goes it the vibratory tumbler for 5-10 min.

One of the best hunters I've seen for awhile

Really like the sheep horn. Looks great with the blade finish.

Tad

Thanks very much guys, that means a lot!!

Thats practical and good looking. The kind of thing everybody could use on their belt!

I always like your designs Ben. Great lines and proportions as well as attractive materials and finishes. This one is no different.

That is a beautiful blade! I hunt Aoudad sheep just about every year up in the Texas Panhandle. And, that would be a fitting blade to take with me. I really like it a lot. I'm always afraid of using them shiny blades everyone makes, scared I'll mar the finish. I'm a user, not a collector. And, your knife is one that just begs to be used on a sheep hunt!! VERY NICELY DONE!
