Hey y’all, FNG here in the forums.
I recently picked up this Damascus steel axe off of a buddy and has seen better days. Rust is very light, and I can handle the handle (see what I did there) sometime later. I don’t know anything about the blade, but I do know that the last place I want to be is getting it cleaned by a professional. You guys have any home remedies I can try before I blow a couple 100’s? Thank you all so much.

The pics aren’t showing for me, but you can can get rid of a lot of rust fast with a wire brush cup or wheel that sockets into a power drill. Normal ones work fine without removing hardened steel, but you can get brass brushes if you want softer wire. I get the cheap ones at Harbir Freight, but any hardware store will have them.
