First tomahawk recommendations?

I was at a gun show about a month ago and saw some tomahawks. Since then I have researched them online. The first one I saw was the RMJ, but it's too expensive. I originally wanted a United Cultery M48 and have read mixed reviews. Then I decided the Cold Steel Trench Hawk, then I decided the Condor Took and Knife throwing axe (I like the steel handle for sturdiness). After looking at the CS Trail Hawk Mod thread I am thinking maybe a Trial Hawk, Pipe Hawk, or Frontier Hawk (I like the hammer capabilities).

This will mostly be a toy for throwing maybe some wood splitting and chopping. I haven't camped in years but would like to get back into it so maybe hammering tent stakes, but that's not a big deal because usually rocks are easy to find and do that with.

Anyway, what are your thoughts? I'd like to stay under $50.

I have a pipe hawk, its a very good all around axe and you can take the head off and replace the handle if it breaks,i duct taped an allen key/matches so its a bit more useful.

Easy call for me at least. Google Ray Rantanen. Hand forged from farrier rasps. After I got mine at least 10 guys I know called Ray and got into it.
Cheers...

Contact Kentucky or Lisa at Wolf Creek Forge. Everyone that has gotten one of theirs has been ecstatic.

I have the CS trench hawk, sadly the handles break too easily, broke 2 of theirs, and 2 hickory ones I made. :grumpy: Thats the closest thing I got to a suggestion.

I'm gonna second that. I don't own one yet but they're a fine looking hawk - forged in a America of quality steel for only $50.

Arent the handles for the trench hawk made from the same stuff their baseball bats are?
