I have liked Indian tomahawks since I was a kid, and wanted to make one for years. So, I gave it a go, made my first one(and a knife to go with it) and now I have mustered up the guts to post a photo of it to see what you guys think. Hope it is worthy.

It is forged from 5160 and decorated with rawhide, trade beads, etc.. Made .

Thanks for the kind words. I enjoyed make this and have started another, though I only do this as a hobby and sometimes it takes a while to get a project completed.

I didn't know if it was ok to have posted photos of the knife originally, since this the tomahawk section. The knife is also 5160 with a hidden tang stag handle and rawhide guard/bolster. Sheath is rawhide that I made myself, decorated with deer horn crown concho, tin cones, deer hair and trade beads.

Quite a bit of talent there Southern! Very much like your style, that spike looks like it'd do the job about three times over. Always preferred a more robust spike than what you see on the more modern ones. Something thick, sturdy, not too sharp, but able to deal the damage.

Thanks for the kind comments. That spike is probably 3/8" at the tip and would punch a pretty nasty hole.

Thanks for all the nice replies. Tree-rat, it is actually a piece of horsetail (hide on) to simulate a scalp. But it does look like a turkey beard in the photo.

I really like that piece of stag. Did you salvage that off an old carving knife, or is it a dyed modern piece?
