Well I was at a local sporting goods store last night and was looking at their knives with my mother (we were there to get a couple last minute christmas gifts for christmas part 2 with family elsewhere)

I have been used to carrying my bench-made barrage, but that isn't appropriate for all situations, so i decided to look for a traditional knife that i could use for things where the benchmade would be inappropriate. well a few of them caught my eye, but one in particular caught my eye. I asked to look at it and ended up buying it

i walked out with a case cheetah with the yellow scales on it. It is CV steel (i think, dont know too much about case other than reputation). It was made in 2001 according to the date code.

The swing guard and the fact that it locked made it seem unique to me, considering its a case. so i bought it. so far, i like it

i will post pictures when i get home later.

Nice .I like the cheetah myself, but haven't pulled the trigger. I think case only offers 2 blade steels, CV and SS. So if you do not have SS stamped on one of your blades then it's CV.

its got CV stamped on it. took me a few minutes to figure out the date code on it, but i did. it just surprises me that there were a decent amount of knives from 2001, or possibly earlier

I like swing guard knives a lot. I have two cheetah cubs in my EDC rotation. The cheetah is too big for me. Cool knives though.
