Yep! Been dumpster diving for wood again and I know it aint an HI but I wanted to try a straight knife sheath before I attempted to do a bent one so I used my E-toh for the first subject. On my last deep dive I found some wood flooring scraps and some pretty cool bamboo which will be saved for a 21" sirupati sheath but for now this E-toh just got clad in European Oak. It is a crossdraw sheath with side entry and has wood spring retention.

The belt loop was made from a piece of laminate flooring scrap and the remaining pieces were solid oak.

I left a few openings on the bottom to let sand etc fall through if needed? Yeah right! Actually i broke that little piece and sounded like a good idea to center it and make up something:D

The unsupported corner acts as a spring to retain the blade and with a little tuning (sanding) it turned out perfect. The belt loop is slightly angled so the handle rides toward the front for easy access.

The backside is completely closed.

All entry points for the blade and belt were rounded and polished for easy entry.

Everything rubbed down with two coats of BLO and hand rubbed for a bit of shine. Many more coats will be in the works but this is as far as I got so far! It was a fun project and I cant wait to put my Tirtha 21' Siru in a bent one. This blade is a flat and straight one and really worked out better than expected. The next bent one will be a bit of a challenge. Hope yall like it!

Looks great!
If you find that you need more secure closure (for non-battlefield transport, for example ;) ), maybe add a strap, or even a "grenade pin" near the handle? Just an idea.

You kidding me, holy smokes man that is OUT freaking STANDING. I love everything about it, absolutely beautiful. I really like the color and design. You did good man

Thanks for all the encouragement guys! It was fun. I found a junk 1x30 delta belt sander with blown out bearings in the dumpster too. I ordered some new bearings ($8) and replaced them and then stripped all the extraneous crap from it to make a slack belt and it came in handy even with its whimpy arse motor. Get what ya pay for:rolleyes:
Thanks Steve! The grenade pins a great idea! I even have a grenade. I was thinking like a brass wire bail I could flip over if needed. Its pretty snug in there right now but once I get to using it and get it broken in I may have to do something.

wow, that is very nice..been tryin to get a aranyik blade for a while,no luck yet, need to see if hes caught up,did find me a 15" angkhola for a good deal, its on its way to me from a fellow forumite, cant wait to get it, gonna redo the sheath for it.

The military coup over in Thailand kinda screwed up shipment of blanks from the markets for a while over there and getting internet and paypal and all suspended didnt help either. That was quickly resolved and they appear to be operating normally again. Funny that they cannot conceal carry arms but it is ok for them to drive around with carloads of large knives without any problems. Guess large knives are not a threat? Aranyik trading and others outside of Thailand may not be affected if they already had stock of blanks because moving steel was never a problem but the logistics, payment, communication, etc associated with moving the product was a problem. Aranyik Trading has just been behind because of workload from what i hear.

yeah ,I was supposed to be on a waiting list over a year ago,per messages between us,never heard back. oh well im a persistant lil cuss. ,ive been lookin at my wood scrap, might try me a wood sheath for my ak when it gets here Friday, got my leather scrap too.hmmm. decisions..

Awesome job Ndog. I would have never guessed that was your first wood sheath. Well designed and executed. I really want to see what you do for the Siru now. you got quite a challenge to top this one.
