Yep! Been dumpster diving for wood again and I know it aint an HI but I wanted to try a straight knife sheath before I attempted to do a bent one so I used my E-toh for the first subject. On my last deep dive I found some wood flooring scraps and some pretty cool bamboo which will be saved for a 21" sirupati sheath but for now this E-toh just got clad in European Oak. It is a crossdraw sheath with side entry and has wood spring retention.
The belt loop was made from a piece of laminate flooring scrap and the remaining pieces were solid oak.
I left a few openings on the bottom to let sand etc fall through if needed? Yeah right! Actually i broke that little piece and sounded like a good idea to center it and make up something
The unsupported corner acts as a spring to retain the blade and with a little tuning (sanding) it turned out perfect. The belt loop is slightly angled so the handle rides toward the front for easy access.
The backside is completely closed.
All entry points for the blade and belt were rounded and polished for easy entry.
Everything rubbed down with two coats of BLO and hand rubbed for a bit of shine. Many more coats will be in the works but this is as far as I got so far! It was a fun project and I cant wait to put my Tirtha 21' Siru in a bent one. This blade is a flat and straight one and really worked out better than expected. The next bent one will be a bit of a challenge. Hope yall like it!
