I gave my Ontario Rat 2 an acid bath with Ferric Chloride, then a stone wash. Here are the results! I'm pretty happy for first try, and I have lots of ideas for the next go..

Looks great. AUS-8 is a great first steel to try, since it responds so well to ferric chloride. What method did you use for the stone wash?

I actually went with the cheap method of using a plastic kool-aid container, like what tang comes in, and bought some smooth river stones from wally world. Sprayed in some wd-40 and went to shaking. Although the stones were too large to get around the thumb stud, so next time I will use a variety of large and small ones.

Looks good, skullker. How long did you shake it?

Only about 15 - 20 minutes
I didn't baby it either, so it should have taken longer.. I knew I would have to put a new edge on it, so I didn't care much.

Knowing what I know now, I would use some sharper stones mixed with smooth ones and much smaller in size.

I went full strength. The logo is gone from the blade, so I was a little sad about that.. I probably should have waited until after I ate to drop it in so I could keep an eye on it..

One of the first ones I did was my Tuff Lite. Not a great pic, but the best I can do atm.
