Tried my hand at a bow drill for the first time yesterday. Had a yucca stalk I had been saving for a spindle. Found a broken boat paddle in my garage and put the fingernail test to it and it seemed ok. Made a fire board out of the broken paddle. Old tamato stake made my hand hold socket. Well got smoke with just the first coulpe of tries. After 4 of 5 tries got my first coal. 4 or 5 tries later got my second coal. Made it all with myGossman PSK. Sorry the pics are with my cell. Really did not think I would have any success on the first time so did not have a good camera ready.
