So I was perusing the bay and threw in a bid on a Yellowhorse 110 and, by chance, won. The knife is pretty neat and I really love the look of the currogated blade. I did some google research and found that this one is called the Walking Buffalo but on the blade, it is marked as Cracked Ice with Buck and Yellowhorse beneath it. It seems pretty legit and I was wondering if anybody on this fine sub forum could shed some more light on it? I saw that there were supposed to be 400 of these made but I can't tell if the number is supposed to be a 960 or 096 :P

I don't know if it is or isn't a legitimate Yellowhorse but all the knives I have seen done by him didn't have a sloppy done serial number on the bolster like that.

That is the only part that has me concerned a bit. The numbers do look unaligned but this would seem like a lot of work to rip off another person's design, especially for what I paid.

I would like to add that I was mistaken. On the blade, it has the name Brian and then an illegible surname with a picture of someone on a horse.

It's a Brian Yellowhorse knife. Brian is David yellowhorse's son. He designs knives for many manufacturers. Cracked ice is what the blade design is called. I have a Brian Yellowhorse knife with a cracked ice blase.

Thank you. Seems I need my eyes checked. :P

I do have to say, I really like the cracked ice look on the blades. All I need to find now, is a flint chip 110.

Yep, that's the way it always starts........................ :-)
I just needed a custom shop one, and one from '87, and '05, and '07. Oh, and that shiny one also :-)

Nice knife!
That is pretty much how I roll through. I usually seek out either a specific model variation or generation.

Thanks for the compliment.

I checked and the Brian Yellowhorse I have is also the Walking Buffalo. I have number 067. The Cracked Ice blade is unusual. I believe the picture on the blade is a horses head. I think that it is Brian's trademark.
