I just finally got my first ZT, first frame lock, first flipper knife, and first ELMAX knife. Want to take a guess? Well, It is the ZT 0560! This is my first $200+ purchase on a knife and makes me feel like I am holding the Holy Grail. I would like to say that I am very happy with this knife and has now got me a new addiction...ZT. I will likely get the ZT 0350 next although still need to research it a bit more.

One question, this is my first frame lock and I was wondering when the knife is open and the lock bar locks up tight, it is rather difficult for me to disengage the lock bar. The lock bar feels "sticky" and i was wondering is there a break-in period for frame locks or is this an issue of warranty?

Welcome to your new compulsion, see your wallet's new propulsion!

There is a break-in period on most moving parts, but this one you can speed up a bit.
Take a pencil and rub the tip over the lockbar / tang interface to lubricate it.

Congrats on your new ZT, Viper!!

This advice from Esav works wonders on a sticky lockbar.....took care of the same problem on my 560 and now the lock engages/disengages perfectly.

Thanks guys. Yeah my wallet to a BIG hit today but so far, I think it's worth it. I shall try the pencil lead rub. Thanks for the help :)

I've always heard it said that 'you'll only cry once' when you pay for a knife. ;) My wallet almost committed suicide after I bought my 0560, an Orange Para 2 and a Military all in the same week.

That was last week.....things are better now, lol.

Can't wait til I buck up and drop the money on a 0560! But this week alone I've gotten a BK2 (just came in today!), Bone Collector, TB Mini Tracker (from forums), and 2 Khukuri (also forums). That doesn't count the two flipper CRKTs (M16 and M21) that I ordered a bit ago and just received this week!

You have further fueled my fire for this amazing knife :D

I just received my 560 today too! It's my second (my first is a 0302) and it's everything I've anticipated...simply love these!

I tried the pencil rub on the lock bar and tang and it seemed to have fixed the "stickiness". But I was wondering, the clip seems a bit loose. If I tighten/rebend it, will it affect the lock bar or the knife in any way?

Tightening up the clip won't affect the lockbar or knife, just be careful to not overtighten(hand tight is good enough) or you might strip the screws. If you are concerned with the clip coming loose later on, you could apply some blue loctite on them to keep them in place.

Oh, perhaps I should re-phrase my question. I meant the tension on the pocket clip because it clips loose in my pocket. Would re-bending the pocket clip affect the lock bar? Sorry for the misunderstanding...it's finals week for me....brain is sore :(

Awesome, THANKS! BTW, I'm really loving the 0560. IT'S SOOOO SMOOTH [yes it required all CAPS] Also, is it just me or the "thumbstuds" don't really function as thumbstuds. Perhaps my thumbs have not developed the muscles yet :p I have been spoiled by all the Spydie holes. :D

I've heard that some 0560s have a pretty stiff detent and flicking/opening via the thumbstuds is a little difficult but mine is silky smooth. I am tempted to flick the thumbstuds all the time but usually open up the blade in the usual manner with them. It is convenient for me to have that flipper though, just in case I feel like flippin'. :D

Btw, the best method is to push thumbstud upwards, not out, and you shouldn't have a problem.

My first 0560 (still have it of course) was a bit stiff, but after a few days of flipping it became very smooth, and easy to deploy. My second one was perfect out of the box. There is a reason for a little retention stiffness. You don't want the knife opening unitentionally, especially in your pocket. I feel very secure with the 0560, and all my ZT knives.

So, I have tried using the thumbstuds and just gave up. I will accept that it was all meant to be, and to keep me safe from accidental opening. And there is a flipper for a reason ;)

Now, I gotta scrounge up some money to get a new ZT.

Re the ZT clips... they have a fifth mounting option... take em off and tape the screws to the clip and stow them in the box! A pocket knife feels so much better in the hand - without the clip. I carry my larger knives, like my 0561, in my LH back pocket. Just a thought...

Of course, I thought carrying a Buck 110 in your front pocket was normal... for many years!
