.... after some looking around I managed to locate a new ZT301 out here in Aus. Those familiar with the changes to the Customs procedures here (relating to folding knives...not fixed blades) will know how much of a find this was...even if it did cost me a testicle ...!!!!!!

Have to wait for the postman now..... :(

Thats why god gave you 2 testicles! :D

Congrats!!! What changes have been made to your Customs regs regarding knives?

I am wondering about this, too.

And congrats on your find. I know you are going to love the 0301. It feels so solid in your hand. Please post a pic (it's what I live for) when you get it. If you could get a kangaroo in the background it would be a plus. :D

Thanks guys, basically Customs are strictly enforcing the "flick knife" test on ALL folders (Flippers and Assisted Openers are now specifically named and not allowed in). In essence the VAST majority of frame and linier lock blades can't pass the test (which involves a ridiculous downward swing followed by snapping the blade up into position). The same knives are NOT at all prohibited/controlled at state level (my state anyway) so that those already in the country may be happily owned. Many many folks were caught out by these changes/enforcement and it has caused a great deal of grief. People who persist in attempting to import knife after knife that fail the test have ended up with Customs arriving at their home and executing search warrants as of course they must be serial offenders. Not sure if there have yet been any prosecutions but it is only a matter of time.

None of this in anyway affects FIXED blade knives. As long as they do not have "knuckle duster" handles and are not "daggers" they are fine and are generally not even opened by Customs (they know what is in the box as 100% of incoming mail is x-rayed).

congrats on your first ZT
you'll love it.
man im glad i live in georgia.
i really do feel sorry that you have to have such stupid restrictions put upon you.
blows my mind.

It stinks it was a pain in the butt for you to be able to purchase such an amazing knife, but it just makes the knife that much more special.

Yeah....I was just about to snap a ZT300 but got beaten to the punch...probably for the better....I only have so many testicles afterall.....

First, ZTs are great knives. Second, there should be NO reason customs comes to anyone's home. If there is really contraband, you should be notified and either the item should be sent back where it came from or destroyed or something along those lines.

Ownership of such knives should NEVER constitute a criminal offense. Sucks to live under that kind of tyranny man. Knives are basic human tools which have existed for too long! I hope knife rights has a chapter over there in Australia!

WOW.... I have been away for the past ten days but found out the 301 arrived the day I left....I think I kissed the Mrs, patted the dogs and tore into the package all in about the first 5 minutes... :)

All I can say is what a knife...!!!!!!
