Just starting out on the vintage knives.
Love what I have thus far, and have the "hook in my mouth" look on my face everytime I receive one, really nice!
So I bought one the other day, on this forum. because of my best buddy/fishing partner....
Vintage Imperial fish knife (due in a week or so).
This one is actually a gift to him, he had one similar in his inheritance, (lots of money, but cheap guns/knives), from his Grandfather.
Naturally, it meant the world to him, regardless of who made it.
That said this was a few years back.......and, he lost it about 7 years ago, while he and I were fishing (we are all about the Bream, Channel Cat, and Small Mouth).
So I ran across one recently, next to nothing $$.
Pretty close to the exact model I had handled of his Grampa's many times in the past).
From my closest recollection?
Cheapo knife, but somewhat of a "Vintage knife" also.
I love that style of knife, and even though I do not own one @ this point, here are the ones I am drooling over.
I am looking for a great fillet (smaller game/fish), that would not be half bad for defensive purposes (never know who you will meet on the creek).
Mulberry river, Arkansas (do a search, I live 3/4 mile from it).
Shatt&Morgan FILE & WIRE TESTED MORNING ASH WORM GROOVE JIGGED BONE HANDLE SINGLE BLADE LARGE TOOTHPICK, 5 1/2" CLOSED. POLISHED ATS-34 CLIP BLADE.
Queen AMBER CARVED STAG BONE SINGLE BLADE LARGE TOOTHPICK, 5" CLOSED. D-2 TOOL STEEL CLIP BLADE.
So between the two above, which would you recommend?
Just scored a Schatt & Morgan Big Daddy Barlow ATS-34 (Can't freaking wait!) to hold me over until I score one of the above.
