I have had this little knife design in my head since some time in early 2013. At the Guild show in September 2013, I purchased this set of mother of pearl scales from Culpepper and a bar of feather Damascus steel from Doug Ponzio. I finally got it all put together. The knife is small, 4 1/2" overall with a 2" cutting edge. It has domed nickel silver pins and red gem eyes. I'll be taking it to ICCE in September.

That is really cool! Love the flow of the blade and the scales are truly beautiful! Grats on such a awesome job!

That is a lovely design. It really has a lovely aquatic shape, but it is not so explicitly fishy that it looks like a toy.

What a delightful knife!

Sweet! Very nice work. Now there's an EDC Gentleman's knife. I've never seen that Damascus pattern before, and I love it.

I don't know why, but I'm also picturing a custom sheath built into the side of a ladies small purse or clutch.

Hmm... a bigger version would be cool. Limiting factor would be the size of pearl available, and the availability of feather damascus in thin or small billets. The knife could be made without the feather, just with a sculpted handle, but you'd lose the "fin" look of the blade. I'm thinking a bird and trout, without the bird, could be cool. I'm also thinking that the laminated abalone would make a good fishy-looking set of scales.

I like that your artistic idea adds to the design without any interference of function. Very well done.

Thanks, Lin. This was the one I had in mind for the bezel set gems. I actually have some 2 and 2.5 mm garnets, but in this case I ended up going with the preset ones from Jantz that Bob recommended on the ABS forum.
