Figured you guys may like to see some Alaskan pics. So far I pretty much got skunked when fishing. Pulled in 2 red salmon when last year I caught my limit 3 days in a row. Ah well, glad I could go. You'll see my PD in a pic. Nearly took the fishes head off lol. Enjoy...

nice fishes!!
i'm thinking you should use that salmon head on a big ol' treble hook and get some action off that black bear!

What the hell, you guys fishing at night? I thought the sun was up all day this time of year up there.

Nah... started to set earlier once June 22nd hits. :( It was actually lighter out, bout 4am ish light Lower 48 style. Did a suicide run down there cause the fishing was supposed to be hot. For those not knowing:

Suicide Run; verb:

Get off work at 7pm... get ready by 8pm. Head outta town and drive for 3hrs to Kenai. Fish until 6 or 7 am and then drive 3hrs back to Anchorage. Grab shower and head to work by 10:30am. Hours of sleep = 0. Fish caught = Hopefully your limit :D

The night pic was taken last Saturday about 2am

Very nice fishing. It's making me a little weepy :D ...

After waiting months in this unusually dry season for the salmon to enter our river, a chemical spill from a factory in the tidal stretch totally wiped them out :grumpy:

There may be some hope of later runs but as time goes by it looks very unlikely. It's still great to see a bit of action, cheers !

Mark :)

Sorry to hear that Mark. My heart seriously goes out to you. I value salmon fishing because it's so enjoyable, feeds many needy families and helps provide income to many from visiting tourists. Hope they will get it restored back to normal soon.

Very nice pics and catch..... I'm jealous!!!!!! :D

Hey Kalimalenaaaaaaaaaaaaa... Where you been bro? How yah been? :D

I think winter of 06' to 07' I'm gonna have to drop down there :D How's princess doing?

Thanks, KAAK.

I'm trying to make light of it, but to tell the truth....when you wait all year and that happens, it's a hard pill to swallow.
The Roe is the only river I fish now and I was about to enjoy my 25th year of salmon there. Being brought up fishing is a very special thing that stays with you throughout life, I think.

Our main problem is the lack of rain, it's so dry here I would nearly guess we'll have no salmon at all this season.

There's a better report on the fishkill here. Sad times.

Bye for now !!

Mark.

If I would've known that the smell of fish would lure ol' Porkymalena out of his cave, I would have wrapped some salmon around the new AK-47!!!!! ;) :D

Nice pics KAAK!!!

koink, i like the way that you removed the fly from the tail and stuck it in the reds mouth.... looks like it would fool even the smartest warden.

KAAK, Beautiful pics. This makes me miss Kenai and Soldotna alot. I hope to see more pics. Nice blade also, it's good to see iser pics. Thanks.

Hey, Brian knice pics. I got invited to float the Kenai last night but couldn't go >_<

Bill... bummer. I wish I had more time to go out fishing, but work and time just aren't compatible :( Silver season is coming up and hopefully I should have some pics of a bloody knife. I know this may sound strange, but it was a beautiful site to see my PD covered in fish blood. Almost as cool as those hog hunting pics (Forgot your name... Youngtimers disease) posted a ways back

The infi (and my bad aim) nearly took the head off
