Hi-I've been fishing once when I was about 4 years old-What I remember is my dad and his friends drinking tons of beer-swearing a lot-me catching some small sick looking fish and getting eaten alive by bugs. Anyway I've aquired these 4 fishing reels and was wondering if any knew anything about them.

The first one says Penn #85 and is about 3.5"

The 2nd says HI 1982 and is about 3"

The 3rd says ocean fly 922 is egg shaped and 3.5" at longest

The 4th is also egg shaped and about 3" at longest is marked ocean city 940

Anyone have any insights on these things?

godot,
These all look like older salt-water levelwind reels. Penn is the only name I am familiar with as they still currently produce fishing equipment. They may be worth something to a collector, but I wouldn't count on it being a whole lot. It's kind of a personal niche thing. You could probably unload them on ebay or you could use them as mantle/coffee table pieces etc., if you are in to that sort of decor.
Do some searching on the web and you may be surprised what you find.
Hope this helps some.

All I know for sure is they are possibly very collectable. Don't do anything hasty until you have researched them thoroughly.
As best I can tell by looking at your photo's I have an Ocean City very much like yours and it belonged to my GREAT grandfather. He died at an old age somewhere around 1959 so I know it is quite old.

They look like very basic Penn reels. I would doubt they have any investment value. A check of E-bay may give you some insight as to what an older Penn salt-water reel is selling for. I would not be surprised if it was under $10.00 per and shocked if it was over.

but I am only a fisherman!!!!

Oh well-I'll just find someplace to display them and make up some fishing stories. Thanks for the input.:)
