Does anyone here like to fish?
What is your favorite rod and reel for freshwater fishing (one that you actually have, not one you dream about)?
And what do you fish for (Bass, Crappie, ect)?

My favorite store bought piece is an ultra light Shakspeare Ugly Stik with a UL Shimano reel. For fun, I really like to use a hobo fishin' kit made from a piece of dowl, a tent peg, or an empty soda can. I like trout and perch fishing way too much.

It's not the pace of life that concerns me, It's the sudden stop at the end.

I have a 9' Sage 5wt 4 piece flyrod, with Ross Guinnison Reel, double taper line. Looking to buy a 7 1/2' 4wt 4 piece for small high altitude lakes and small streams. Not many Rainbows left, but the Browns are taking up the slack. Pan-sized Brookies are my favorites.

Well for this time of year it is a 2 foot long SouthBend ice rod with a 25 year old Shakespeare 2062. I can go fishing anywhere on a lake without a boat.

In the summer, same reel and an old Daiwa graphite 7' spinning rod. Smallmouth bass, walleye(AKA pickeral up this way) and on occasion musky ...with a different outfit of course.

lets see,ive got a few rod/reel combos. my favorite (in the trunk right now) is a reel that is not made anymore (might be a daiwa) and an ugly stick rod (i think). this combo works for everythign from bluegills and perch to bass.

My friend caught some fish using a line tied to a SRK knife. We ate well on that camping trip.

I have 6or8rod and reel combos that I use regularly and I paid less than $75.00 for each. They are mostly Zebcos with a Shakespear and a Diawa for color.I fish as often as I can.I fish for catfish and pan fish most often,But I am opertunist,I take any thing that I can get!I fish catch and reales(SP?)most of the time, but I do catch fish to eat sometimes(esp.catfish!)

I must have 30 or 40 rods and reels in my garage, spinning, baitcast, fly, surfcast, bay, deepsea, etc. For freshwater fishing,I prefer smallmouth then largemouth bass but I like em all.

I do a ton of fishing in the Adirondacks for trout, bass, pike and walleye. I have a whole slew of rods and reels, each with a particular function. For everyday, non-specific species fishing, I use a Shimano Stradic 4000 spinning reel attached to a slightly modified 5'6" 2 PC Medium Light Action Zebco Rhino spinning rod. It's a great combination; strong enough to pull in 5 pound bass, but sensitive enough for worm dunking.

When I head deep into the woods for a few days, I tend to carry something that's ultra-dependable. The thought of having to hike back out of my favorite pike hole, just because something gave out, kills me. For these times, I use an old Mitchell 300 with an Ugly Stik. It's not wonderfully comfortable, but you can't kill this rig.

Whatever you do, don't purchase a new Mitchell 300. They're junk. Go to a garage sale, Ebay, or flea market, and get an old one.

Rod: Daiwa Samurai, rebuild, 11 feet
Reel: ABU Ambassadeur 5000 Classic (red), from 1971 and still working. The older those reels are, the longer they cast.
Fish: Pike, bass, salmon and trout.
