Fishing Knife

I think it was quite idiotic to 'suddenly decide to capture the fish with his knife'. After reading the first line of the article I started to root for the fish. What a moron! I'm sure the bends will get him sooner of later after he makes a 'rash decision to get to the surface in a hurry'...

Is there a better fishing knife than the one shown in the photo ??

Yep, that one didn't do the job the way it should have. Odds are there was a chick diving in the group and testosterone kicked in.:D And she probably thought "what a dork" and swam away.

Yeah, Moron is right! It's too bad the first big thing he decided to stab on a whim wasn't a big friggin' shark or something. Maybe someday a Norwhal (sp?) will say "Hey I'm gonna capture this diver with my horn", and stab HIM between the eyes. Probably not, but a guy can dream...:D -Matt-

Agree with all said above.

Hopefully if he continues to go around stabbing creatures of similar size to himself with a knife, especially underwater, he can be put up for entry in the Darwin awards and the next generation will be just that little bit smarter without his genes.

Yes , the chick , Elena , took the pictures and was the dive master !!!

i liek the bit where it says he was scared for his life , yet if he had ignored the fish and not tried to capture it he would have been fine

I'M HAVIN' FISH TONIGHT! And tomorrow, and the next day and the day after that....

The loggers who would go halibut fishing off Port Angeles, Washington, in the Straits of Juan De Fuca, would rig up a "telegraph" that would slide down the line with a blasting cap held a ways off the line. They would detonate the cap to stun the fish to get it off the bottom.

"The result was a 15-minute battle to the death with a 56-kilo (123.5-lb), 1.5 meter (59-inch) fish armed with a massive mouth full of long, pointed teeth"
Where, I saw no long, pointed teeth? I hate how reporters say everything is so deadly and makes everything so dramatic. Stories are more exciteing to me if they are realistic, and saying that the fish is like a shark with bigger teeth screams made up, or that the truth was severely stretched. Not bashing your post METE, just don't aggree with the way the story was written.
