Hey guys sorry about making this a whole forum but I'm looking for a Multitool that would be great for fishing purposes. Does a brand make on especially for this? If not here's what I'm looking for spring pliers so I don't have to manually open the tool, Philips and flat head screw driver, cutters that can cut braid as well as mono, sharp knife, and something that doesn't rust so I can keep it on the boat. Also if possible a blade that can be opened one handed. If you guys have any other suggestions that a fishing Multitool should have than consider them. So what Multitool should I get that fits these needs? Please help

I don't know of a tool that I would find convenient for all of those tasks. Frankly, I consider opening a multitool for the tools other than pliers inconvenient. The most used items for me are clippers, pliers, and knife. The other stuff can be easily gotten in a pretty standard multitool and I would only use them occasionally.

The leatherman wingman fills almost all your requirements and it's only 30$ but it does rust pretty easy. You might be better off just buying a pair of fishing pliers and something like a spyderco salt

I use a Victorinox Spirit which is stainless steel as my standard multi-tool. It does have a wire cutter on it which is useful for smaller wires and I suppose braided line. I carry separate pliers (small and larger), frequently a Vic SAK as my knife; a larger one works for a tackle box, and clippers. The hard to find item was always pliers that have a hole for a lanyard in the handle. Again, it depends on the size of fish you are dealing with as far as the practical size of a pliers, if you fish out of a boat where you pretty much always have a tackle box with you and so forth. The Spyderco knives work for me. Lots of one hand openers around from auto knives to gravity knives to knives with a hole that are easier to open with two hands, but are possible to open one-handed without out much effort.

A fixed blade is always open.... Mora's work well as you loose stuff fishing. Take a look at a Mora Companion. They are also very sharp and easy to sharpen.

Vic SAK Champion has served me well on fishing trips.

 Without knowing how you use your SAK, I hope it was less of a mess than mine the only time I ever used it for fishing chores. Took me days to get all the fish stuff out of it. Stinky, too, and at the time my only SAK, so I was stuck with it for a while. Just a cautionary here, not saying it can't be done without a nasty aftermath, but I've never used a SAK for fishing chores since.

Btw, if anyone decides to go ahead anyway, I have found the main blade works better to scale fish than the fish scaler implement. :)

Fly fishing I just have a vic Rambler on a pin on reel on the west, to trim line and fixing, and a needle nose plier also on the west. A small fixed blade is then used for the fishy stuff, it is so much easier to clean.

I use a SAK every time I go fishing. It never touches a single fish though. I could only imagine the nightmare of cleaning it if you used it to scales or clean a fish.
