I bought my sister one of those telescoping fishing poles for Christmas because I figured it wouldn't break as easily when she tossed it wherever she decided to toss it. She took it out of the box unfolded it to look at it and it got stuck that way, somehow. She tried to push it back I tried, no luck, eventually I ended up pushing it so hard with my gorilla hands that I snapped the top piece off, the rest is still stuck open. Now I've got to return it, and I am not pleased. Is there some trick to folding these things up again that I'm not seeing or are they just inherently a pain? The one I used to have never did that unless you really gave it a fling to open it, and even then I could still get it cloesed without inducing an anurism, and she just let gravity open it so I don't know what the deal is with it.

Um ... does your family all have a mysterious genetic mutant power to break things? Since you said it was your sister who did it, I had to ask....

If not, then I think you got a defective fishing rod. The question is whether that brand is all like that. If they try to give you a replacement instead of a refund (or you want a replacement instead of a refund) insist on trying it out in the store before you take it home.
